Community-Oriented Defender Network Annual Conference 2015

Washington, D.C.
July 15-16, 2015

The annual Community-Oriented Defender Network Conference is fast approaching! Join colleagues from across the country -- attorneys, social workers, investigators, and other defender advocates -- who share your commitment to community-oriented defense for two days of highly interactive, expert sessions that will strengthen your work and, most important, benefit your clients and your community.

There is no registration fee, but you must . NLADA will apply for CLE and CEU accreditation for all qualifying conference sessions in states with mandatory continuing education requirements, upon request. (Put your CLE or CEU state(s) on your registration submission.)

The conference is an unparalleled opportunity to build your network, discover innovative tools and practices, learn how to take advantage of research, and share your knowledge with peers.

The wide-ranging agenda will examine topics such as:

  • Mandatory Reporting Laws and Social Workers in Defender Offices
  • Cop Accountability Program (CAP), New York Legal Aid Society
  • Trauma-Informed Advocacy for Women in the Criminal Justice System
  • Mitigation and Sentencing Alternatives for Juveniles and Young Adults
  • Defender Roundtable and Workshops

If you are a public defender chief or deputy chief, or if you are on the NASAMS Executive Committee, please plan to arrive early for the American Council of Chief Defenders (ACCD) Summer Meeting and NASAMS Executive Committee Meeting, respectively, on Tuesday, July 14. Registration for ACCD Summer Meeting will open soon.

The conference will take place at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, which is conveniently located near affordable lodging, a variety of restaurants, and efficient public transportation.

Contact Michelle Bonner ([email protected]) with questions about the conference. We look forward to seeing you this July.
