Webinar: Creating Social Biography Videos to Humanize Clients for Better Case Resolutions

The Albert Cobarrubias Justice Project (ACJP), a media and community advocacy project, presented a webinar on how public defenders can create "social biography videos" to humanize clients for purposes of impacting sentencing, plea-negotiations, and more. The project director, Raj Jayadev, is the coordinator of ACJP, a community organizing model for families and communities to partner with public defenders to impact court cases.

The social biography videos you can view below had major impacts on the case outcomes for the clients featured:

Brice -- Outcome: Reduced Sentence by Half
Brice had lost a jury trial and was facing 15 years for armed robbery. The video helped convince the judge to impose the mitigated sentence despite Brice's criminal history.

Xavier -- Outcome: Reduced Sentence, Reduction of Charge
Used successfully by Xavier's attorney to advocate for reduced charges and a lesser sentence.
